WhatsApp auto-reply messages that work: greeting and away-message examples in Urdu and English

· 7 min read · By Chatziq Team

A good first reply decides whether a customer waits for you or messages the next shop. These are ready-to-use messages in English and Roman Urdu for the moments that matter most, and the rules that make them sound like a person, not a machine.

1. The greeting message: say hello, say what you do

Sent the first time someone writes. Keep it to three short lines: who you are, what you can help with, and what to send next.

  • English: “Hello! Thanks for messaging Al Noor Boutique. We reply within a few minutes. Send us the design number or a photo and we'll share the price and sizes.”
  • Roman Urdu: “Assalam o Alaikum! Al Noor Boutique mein khush aamdeed. Design ka number ya photo bhej dein, hum price aur sizes bata dein ge.”

2. The away message: promise a time, not just an apology

When you're closed or busy, “we will reply soon” says nothing. Say when, and what they can do in the meantime.

  • English: “We're closed now and will reply from 10 am. Meanwhile, our prices and delivery details are in our catalog.”
  • Roman Urdu: “Hum abhi band hain, subah 10 baje se jawab dein ge. Tab tak catalog mein price aur delivery ki tafseel dekh lein.”

3. Quick replies for the questions you answer daily

Write each once, with the details a customer needs to decide.

  • Delivery: “Delivery is Rs 250 all over Pakistan, 3 to 5 working days. Cash on delivery is available.”
  • Timings: “We're open Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 9 pm, at Gulberg, Lahore. Sunday closed.”
  • Booking: “Which day suits you? We have 4 pm and 5 pm free tomorrow.”
  • Roman Urdu delivery: “Delivery poore Pakistan mein hai, Rs 250, 3 se 5 din. Cash on delivery bhi available hai.”

4. How to write it so it sounds like you

Write the way you would say it to a customer standing at your counter. Use the same language and script your customers use, keep it short, and end with one clear next step. Avoid long paragraphs and capital letters.

  • One idea per message
  • Match the customer's language and script
  • End with a question or a next step
  • Never promise what you can't keep, like “instant” if you are asleep

5. The limit of fixed messages, and what to do about it

A fixed message can't read what the customer wrote: “Is it in stock in size L?” gets the same away message as “Where is my parcel?”. That is the point where an assistant that understands the question, answers from your catalog and hands the hard ones to you saves real time. Until then, these templates are a strong start.
